What is MadBuilder?
MadBuilder is a Brazilian low-code platform that generates Laravel projects. You model your tables in a diagram, build screens in the visual editor or ask an AI agent in English, and get a Laravel project (Eloquent, Blade and Alpine) that runs on your own server. It works with six databases: MySQL or MariaDB, PostgreSQL, SQLite, Oracle, SQL Server and Firebird. It is in open beta, with a free plan.
Is the generated code really mine? Can I leave the platform?
Yes. What comes out is a standard Laravel project, with Eloquent models, migrations, controllers and Blade views that any dev can read. You download the ZIP, push to your own Git or publish to your own server. The MAD framework, which provides the screen components, ships along in the packages folder. There is no engine of ours running behind the scenes, and what you download is exactly what you tested.
Can I host it on my own server?
Yes, in three ways from the same project: SSH deploy to your server, with a backup before overwriting and a live log; push to your Git (GitHub, GitLab or Bitbucket); or the ZIP to download. It runs behind your firewall and within your company's rules.
Do I need to know how to code?
Not for the basics. You draw the data in a diagram and build screens by dragging components or asking the agent in English. When a dev wants to touch the code, the editor shows the same screen in Visual, PHP and Blade, with suggestions that know your database. Hand-written code lives in protected blocks and survives when the screen is generated again.
Which databases are supported?
Six: MySQL or MariaDB, PostgreSQL, SQLite, Oracle, SQL Server and Firebird, with dedicated migrations for each. In Online Test you pick the version: PostgreSQL 13, 14, 15, 17 or 18, MySQL 5.7, 8.4 or 9.7, MariaDB 11.4 or SQLite. Those are the validated versions, not a continuous range.
Can I use the database I already have?
Yes, in two ways. To model on top of it, paste the CREATE TABLE (in any of the six databases) and the diagram draws itself. To operate a customer's database, the Database Manager connects directly, through a temporary SSH tunnel or through a driver that runs inside the customer's app and reaches the database behind the firewall, with no VPN, with signed communication and read-only access enforced by the database itself.
How much does the AI cost? Can I use my own key?
Your choice. With the Mad Coding Plan, a monthly subscription (Plus, Max or Ultra; see Pricing), the AI is included in the agent, with no API key. It requires the Pro plan, and Pro AI subscribers get 15% off. Or bring your own key (BYOK): the platform charge drops to zero and you pay the provider directly. Either way, usage is logged, and the agent spends 65% to 75% fewer tokens, because it assembles screens from ready-made components instead of writing everything from scratch.
Can the AI break my code or leak data?
The agent only edits the unlocked parts of the file and never touches the locked areas. Before saving, it checks every component against the framework's real list. In Plan mode, it shows what it is going to do and only applies what you approve, item by item. In the published app, the copilot follows the user's permissions, shows masked personal data and logs every action in the audit trail.
Can a team work on the same project?
Yes. In the Manager you invite people per project, define what each one can do and can transfer ownership. In the editor, if someone else changed the same screen, you get a conflict warning instead of overwriting their work.
Does the generated system support multiple languages? And data privacy law (LGPD)?
Both. The generated app has a translation dictionary and bulk AI translation, covering about 30 languages. And it ships with roles and permissions, per-customer separation, two-step login, audited administrative access, masked personal data and an audit trail on every sensitive operation, including actions taken by AI.
Can I connect my own AI agent, like Claude Code or Cursor?
Yes. With one command (claude mcp add madbuilder --token mgw_… --project 1042) your agent can create screens, generate records, model the database and publish through MCP. Access uses one token per project, you enable tool by tool, you can revoke it instantly and every call is logged.
I already use MadBuilder 4. Where do I log in?
At the usual address: manager.madbuilder.com.br. Version 5, the new one, lives at manager.madbuilder.dev. With the Log in button at the top of the site you choose the version, and the page madbuilder.dev/en/login shows each version's screen so you can recognize yours.
